My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I am a fan of the television series, The Expanse, and as I read the books that inspired the show, I can’t help but compare the two. In Abaddon’s Gate, pretty much the same events occur, but they happen to different people. I kept getting pulled out of the story saying, “That’s not right.”
Abaddon’s Gate brings us to an alien ring at the edge of our solar system as mankind jockeys for control of it. The story is good and in some ways better than the television version. For instance, the battle for the Behemoth’s bridge was exciting, and Clarissa Mao’s appearance on the Rocinante was suspenseful. Once I got over the shock of having unfamiliar characters take over the plot, I was able to settle in and enjoy the ride.
Abaddon’s Gate is the third book in the ongoing series. Fans of science fiction will find it most enjoyable.
